Critter was born in Hickory, North Carolina, in 1984 and was raised in Denver, North Carolina, where he was an average junior tennis player. He received a bachelor of graphic design degree from North Carolina State University; his senior thesis, the book Hillsborough Street, was first published in 2007. He also published Book Of Lesser Value, Inferior Quotations, This Lush Little Meadow, Stations, Lisa, and, most recently, Flop. Over the years, Critter worked for Red Hat, IBM, and NC State University. He was awarded Honorable Mention for a finger painting, the National Physical Fitness Award, the Above & Beyond Library Service Award, and the 2020 SPF® Artist of the Decade Award. He died in 20??.
